I have worked for my whole life to try to understand colour and to solve practical problems that arise in connection with colour. I work at the University of
Leeds where I am Professor of Colour Science and Technology. You see, everything in the world that is manufactured is coloured and companies who manufacture those things invariably start to worry about how we communicate colours, how do we control colour, and how do we assess colour. And that is where I come in.
Whenever I talk about colour or write about colour, I am referring to perceptual colour. For me, if two things look different in colour, they are different in colour because that is how I define colour.
In this talk I explore what colour is and explode the many myths.
