David has spent all his working life in customer service of one form or another, beginning with 10 years in retail and retail management, followed by 20 years as a constable with West Yorkshire Police. Prior to this he spent 2 years as support staff and a special constable. He says “During 20 years of full time service I worked on patrol, as a tutor constable to new officers and in Roads Policing, or as us older 'Bobbies' called it, ‘Traffic’". He also spent four years in a specialist road crime unit and time in the police control room.

He believes all of this allows him to draw on experiences good and bad, to help bring into his presentations more realism and to make a  connection with many of the exhibits he shows, some of which were personally used 'in action’. In retirement he has put together a large private collection of police history exhibits spanning more than 220 years. His intention with The Mobile Police Museum is to remove wherever possible barriers, exclusions and glass cases. He has a very hands on approach to his presentations where his audience can handle and examine 95% of what he brings to the show.

David comes from a long line of family connections with the police service, with eight officers to date from WW2 to the present day. He is very proud of those presently serving, with the youngest recently recently qualifying and passing out as a constable, continuing the family tradition in what is certainly a more challenging role in modern times.

With a wealth of experience and a selection of hands-on exhibits, this is certain to be a fascinating presentation which you surely won’t want to miss.
