This walk will start from the Callis Bridge traffic lights, and follow the Pennine Way through Callis Woods, but will join the Pennine Bridleway rather than continuing to Stoodley Pike. We will follow the Pennine Bridleway (also known as London Road on this stretch) above Mankinholes, and then take the Calderdale Way route into Todmorden. The length is approximately 6 miles and there is a total of about 900 ft of ascent. For this route the, general advice on the established Walking Group's web page applies, concerning suitable clothing, footwear and fitness, and you should bring water and refreshments.
The walk will commence at about 10:00 am at Callis Bridge, adjacent to the main road between Hebden Bridge and Todmorden.
To get there, take the 591 from Todmorden (09:36) or Burnley (08:56) in the Halifax direction, or the 592 from Hebden Bridge (09:43) or Mytholmroyd (09:36) or Luddendenfoot (09:29) in the Todmorden direction. In either case, get off at the stop near Murt's Motors, and head east to the nearby bridge with traffic lights, where we'll meet for the start of the walk. Please note bus passes are valid all day on Saturdays.
