Event type: Group Session

Time: 10:26 - 14:00
Group: Walking Group
Venue: The Great Outdoors

Our next walk will take place on Tuesday 24th September 2024 and will be led by Corinne Roberts. It's a repeat of a popular walk from several years ago, although it will be new to many more recent members.  The walk is around 5 miles in length and there are no significant hazards.

Meet at Todmorden Bus Station to catch the 592 bus towards Burnley, departing at 10:37 (10:13 from Hebden Bridge), alighting at Lydgate. Details of the walk from Corinne follow:-

Take the path up through the railway arches to the edge of the woodland. Cross the fields on a narrow but decent path towards Cornholme - various stiles but none too difficult. Cross the bridge over the Clough and ascend the steep stone steps to the ruined Shore Chapel and Cross the field to Bluebell Lane. Turn right down Bluebell Lane before taking a track to the left to meet the Calderdale Way. Cross the field opposite diagonally (could be a bit wet here) to go through the top of Eleanor's Wood and turn right on the track and over Bridestones. At the end of Bridestones take a small indistinct path to the right across the Moor coming out onto the metalled Road above Windy Harbour Farm. Continue straight downhill for a short way and note the stone sculpture of the 'Wizard of Whirlaw'. Follow the downhill path east of Whirlaw through the field to East Whirlaw Farm. From there follow the main track down through Hole Bottom to the centre of Todmorden.
