A relatively gentle walk up the Luddenden valley to Luddenden and Booth led by Jerome Way and starting from Luddenden Foot at 10:35 am (10:05 592 bus from Todmorden). Then on to Jerusalem Wood. From there a steepish climb up to Thorney Lane. Depending on the weather and peoples' energy we could either follow the road, which has little traffic, to the east end of Midgley, or climb a little higher and follow the edge of the moor but again drop down to Midgley. From there we would go down John Naylor Lane to come out on the Burnley road where there is a convenient bus stop, just to the west of Luddenden Foot (buses towards Todmorden at 28 and 58 minutes past the hour). The length of the walk is around 5 miles, but with only one more strenuous 'up'!
