The walk will be led by Judy Audaer and will take place on Tuesday 27th May 2025 starting from Todmorden bus station and taking the 10:27 bus towards Rochdale, alighting at the Wagon and Horses in Walsden at 10:36.
Walk up behind the pub to Allescholes road and along it to Lower Allescholes where we turn right up the track. It takes us along the Todmorden Centenary Way to Cranberry Dam. Past it and up the hill, at the top turn right for a gradual decline to Ramsden Lane. We go straight across it and gradually down into Ramsden Clough, over the wee bridge & up the other side to reach Foul Clough Road. Cross straight over and across Inchfield Pasture, then left down the track, descending to Bacup Road. Cross it and take a path by the side of the houses, up behind them and along to Stones Lane where we turn left. Round the back of the farm and come out on Stones Road which we follow all the way down, past the entrance to Dobroyd Castle, to cross the metal bridge across the railway line and follow it down across the canal to emerge on Rochdale Road near Morrisons. Turn left and walk a short way to the town centre. Alternatively, take a path on the left to the canal towpath where we turn right for a short walk to the guillotine lock. Distance 5.2 miles, approx 3 hours walking.
