This walk will start from the Walker Lane Bus Stop in Old Town at approximately 10:05 AM. We'll cover about 4 1/2 to 5 miles, a lot of which is fairly level.

To get there for the start, take the 591 from Todmorden Bus Station at 09:12, or the 593 from Halifax at 0903, Tuel Lane Top 0913 or Mytholmroyd at 0922, in order to connect with the 595, which departs from Hebden Bridge Station at 0950, or Commercial Street at 0952. Remember that concessionary passes are valid all day at the weekends.

From the bus stop (275 metres altitude), we will take the link path, but turn off left at the track to Allswell (formerly Bog Eggs) Farm, leaving both the reservoir and farm to the right. We'll pass ruins from cottages, quarries, and bell pits dug for coal, and go thorough a field and then a stile, to cross the Calderdale way track, and head up on the moorland path past the edge of Tom Tittiman (401 metres) and on to High Brown Knoll trig point (443 m), which affords long distance views in all directions. We'll then take a right turn and pick one of the various routes towards Sheep Stone trig point (401 metres), from where we can descend on one of two routes back towards Old Town, either passing above Hebden Bridge Golf Club, or to its side, to emerge on Height Road at Nook farmhouse. From there, we'll pass the Hare and Hounds Pub and the Village Cafe, near which is the 595 bus stop. (Half-hourly service).
