We play in a relaxed mode, accomodating all levels of play, freely consulting printed lists of obscure 2- and 3-letter words and online dictionaries. If you can imagine a word existing you are free to check before playing it. We don't do "challenges" but rather take pleasure in each other's inventiveness.

Normally we can assemble 3 to 4 tables of 3 to 4 players each, and our practice is that the first table to finish a game calls "finished!" and all the other games then stop, with the victors at each table then moving round, so that there there is a constant turnover of opponents throughout the session.

There is a break for free refreshments at "half-time" and plenty of opportunity to exchange non-Scrabble-related news and views throughout.
